The physical charcteristics, climate, 5 major cities, and agriculture of the Aztec Empire.

The city of Tenochtitlan, or present day Mexico city, was were it was based. This area was surrounded by water on all 4 of the sides for the most part. It stretched from the Pacific Ocean to the Gulf Coast, and from central Mexico to Guatemala. The area was surrounded by two large mountain ranges

The climate during the Aztec Empire was fairly mild. The summers were warm and dry. There were sometimes winters that were wetter seasons, and the area got swampy. The tropical climate zone made it a good spot for agriculture.

Major Cities

The capital city of the Aztec Empire is Tenochtitlan, or present day Mexico City. Years later, they formed an alliance with the cities Texcoco and Tlacopan. This triple alliance ruled the Mexico until the Spanish arrived. After they arrived, the Aztec Empire was converted into many city-states rather than independent cities. 

Most of the agriculture was located in central Mexico. Thr main crops of the Aztec Empire was maize (corn), but they also farmed squash and beans. The method of farming they used was chinampas. A Chinampa is a method of farming that used small, rectangular areas to grow crops on shallow lake beds .
